  21. - Create a new project from the NEW command under the FILE menu.

  23. - Import the example images that come with the demo of Collage 2.0. Collage will convert the images into proxies at this point.

  25. - Click on the drop arrow next to the name of each image in the Element Palette to reveal preview icons for each image. Start to drag these elements onto the page.

  27. - Each element has a mask (or alpha channel) built into it. With different elements selected, click the Mask button located in the bottom left corner of the Information Palette. This activates the mask.

  29. - Arrange the elements on screen is various fashions as desired. Use the Arrow, Rotate, Skew and Crop tools to arrange the composition to your liking. Holding down the SHIFT key while selecting elements allows you to select multiple elements at the same time.

  31. - With different elements selected, apply shadows. This is done by using the Shadow effect on the Effects Palette. With the element selected, simply click the Shadow "On" button to activate the shadow, then use the hand tool that appears when you move the cursor over the checkerboard to move the shadow, soften it up by using the softness value (be sure to keep values in the .02 to .05 range) and change the opacity with the Opacity value. Use the APPLY button to apply the changes made.

  33. - Use the Text tool to create type from any TrueType or Type 1 font. Apply shadows to text too!

  35. - Choose RENDER IMAGE from the FILE menu to see the Render dialog. This is where users specify final target resolution of the image.

  37. - Run through the slideshow of images to point out examples of work being done with Collage.
